Drawing as Seeing
Sat, May 3, 2025, 9:00 AM — Sun, May 4th, 2025, 6:00 PM
Led by Pamela Lawton and Danny Licul, faculty at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Siena Art Institute, Italy
Explore multi-sensory techniques in an innovative approach to drawing, originally designed for students with a range of vision. Apply touch, verbal description, and experimental materials for expressive art that can include elements of collage. Using Saugerties Village as part of our studio, this intensive workshop will provide an unusual, interactive drawing experience. Engage with using textures and tactile materials in drawing, as well as auditory techniques. You will explore alternative approaches in artmaking. Participants will make discoveries about their own perceptions, and about the drawing process with unique tools and skills. These techniques can also be taken into a school classroom setting. Materials and lesson plan included for art educators.
