Urban Street Painting
June 7, 2025, 9:00 AM — June 8, 2025, 6:00 PM
Led by Janet Pedersen, The Art Annex
This immersive workshop in historic Saugerties Village will cover the essential aspects of outdoor cityscape painting in acrylics: defining a composition, working quickly and directly, controlling value and color and thinking intentionally about form. We will meet daily for demos, instruction, painting, and constructive critique. Participants will scout out locations and learn how to simplify a scene to find the essential motif for a compelling composition. By spending time observing and delving into your work with guidance, you will develop your practice as either a newcomer to painting, or a more experienced participant. Materials are included. K-12 art educators provided with take-away lesson plans in google slides inspired by the cityscape paintings of African American realist, Gregory Frux.
