Material Possibilities in Sculpture

from $380.00

June 28, 2025, 9:00 AM — June 29, 2025, 6:00 PM

Led by Joan Ffolliott, RISD & Woodstock School of Art Faculty

This immersive two-day sculpture workshop combines hands-on fabrication techniques combined with repurposing found materials. Begin with a guided exploration of sculpting media and wire and then sourcing and selecting found materials that inspire your creativity. Learn about the principles of balance—both physical and visual—and how they influence sculpture. Explore texture as a design element, experimenting with the interplay of smooth, rough, soft, and hard surfaces. Experiment with connecting and layering elements to achieve dynamic contrasts and harmony. This workshop welcomes participants of all experience levels, from beginners eager to explore sculpture to seasoned artists looking for fresh inspiration. All materials will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own found objects for a personalized touch. Join us for two days of creativity, collaboration, and discovery!
